Solving Quadratic Equations
Quadratic Formula vs. Factoring vs. Square Root Method

What is the standard form of a Quadratic Equation?

We have learned three different methods for solving quadratic equations. You can always use the Quadratic Formula, but sometimes it is easier to use another method.

Square Root Method  __________
Factoring Method  __________
Quadratic Formula  __________

Solve the equation using the square root method.
1. 6x2 − 24 = 0

Solve the equation using the factoring method.
3. x2 + 8x + 12 = 0

Solve the equation using the Quadratic Formula. Write the Quadratic Formula for both problems.
5. 2x2 − 7x + 3 = 0

Which method would you choose to solve each equation (which would be the easiest)? Explain. You don’t need to solve these problems.

7. 15x2 + 7x = 4

11. Memorize the Quadratic Formula!!! Practice writing it!
